2007 Volkswagen Passat How to Reset Oil Service Indicator for 2007 VW Passat

I have a 2007 Volkswagen Passat. I recently had the oil changed, not at the dealer, and the service light is still on. How can I turn this off without taking it to the dealership?

Answer: With the doors closed put the key in the ignition. Hold down the trip odometer reset button. Turn the key to the on position. You will see the service indicator light (wrench). Press the minute adjustment button. Release the trip odometer reset button.

  1. 1 Sit in the driver’s seat of the Passat and close all the doors.

2 Position the trip/odometer button to display the odometer mileage reading, then hold it down with the forefinger on your left hand.

3 Turn the ignition key to the “key-on/engine-off” position to turn on all the power options for the Passat without actually starting the engine. At this point, a service indicator light will display (in the form of a wrench).

4 Press the minute adjustment button on the clock (or turn the knob clockwise on European manufactured Passats) and release the trip/odometer button.
