I need a new radiator in my 1997 Hyundai Elantra. How much do you think this car repair will cost? And do you think I could do it myself?

Answer: You could do the work yourself, a few hours work (this is an easy going amount of time, but can vary by the cars design and tools). New radiators can cost from $100 to 250 or so, and double that if you buy it from the dealer. To have it done by pro mechanic, might be an added $50 to 150 I think. If you do do it yourself, you probably have electric fans, which make it easier, just a few screws and an electric connection and they come out. Then just a few more screws/bolts for rad. Then it is just the hoses (Which I recommend you replace). Then fill it up with new antifreeze/water when you put everything back together. Also run it, and keep the little tank (reservoir) full so as it needs, it can pull it from there (and it will). The truly hardest part is trying to not spill the anti freeze already in the engine and then getting rid of it.
